Custom Compression Titanium Spring for the Government/Military Industry

In the project highlighted here, Argo Spring was contracted by a customer in the defense industry to fabricate a custom compression spring. Employing our versatile onsite precision equipment, titanium material was wound in accordance to customer specifications, and subjected to a grinding process to produce the desired degree of flatness at the endpoints. The component was heat treated for longevity and deburred to break edges. The part was thoroughly cleaned, and subjected to a comprehensive testing protocol for accuracy and integrity with penetrant inspection, dimensional inspection, and functionality testing.
Dimensions for the finished 5 coil spring were 0.103", with an outside diameter of 1.001" and inside diameter measurement of 0.785". The tightest tolerance of ±0.001" was held throughout fabrication. In total, 5,400 springs were manufactured for this project, packaged and sent to the customer specified location.
